Stephanie Gerk and Donald Koontz became engaged to be married Oct. 3, 2010. Donald proposed to Stephanie at the top of Mount Alyeska the day before her birthday. They had taken the tram up to the top to take pictures. Stephanie turned around and Donald was on his knee with the ring in his hand.
Stephanie is the daughter of Frank and Gayle Gerk of Chugiak. She graduated from Anchorage Christian School in 2008 and went on to Liberty University in Virginia. She received her associates in business in May of 2010 from the University of Phoenix. She is currently working at a law firm in Anchorage. Stephanie enjoys antique shopping, spending time with Donald and their two dogs, Dakota and Tessa, and being outside whether it be fishing, hunting, or snowmachining.
Donald is the son of Darrell and Shelli Koontz of Anchorage. He also graduated from ACS in 2008 and is working toward his construction management degree from UAA while working in the sheet metal trade. He enjoys all outdoors activities including fishing, camping, and snowmachining.
Donald and Stephanie met at Anchorage Christian School in eighth grade and became high school sweethearts.
The couple plans to wed July 2 in Big Lake.
