Eagles fly past Wolves in double-digit game

Alaska Star staff

Eagle River's girls team hung with West early, but the Eagles flew away late to take a 68-28 decision at Eagle River on Feb. 7.

The Wolves trailed just 17-12 after a Dana Panfil bucket early in the second quarter forced the Eagles to call timeout. But that was as close as Eagle River would get as West ended the half on a 19-5 run to put the Cook Inlet Conference game out of reach.

The loss dropped Eagle River to 0-13 on the season and 0-7 in the CIC.

Chanel Bookert ripped off 26 points to lead West, while Sasha Kozloff added 12.

Panfil led the Wolves with 14 points, including 11 before the break. Sam Coy added eight, Cassie Barsalou had three and Danielle Trubiano added a free throw.
