Thomas Glenn Slanker

April 15, 1927 – Jan. 21, 2011

Thomas Glenn Slanker, Jr., 83, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Jan. 21, 2011.

Slanker was born April 15, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, to Thomas G. and Daisy M. (Parsons) Slanker, Sr.

He married Paula Walker on Oct. 20, 1967, in Anchorage. Slanker opened Far North Service and Far North Fuel in Eagle River in 1956 and later opened Far North Land Merchant. During his years in Eagle River, he also was involved in real estate until his retirement in 1967 and was known in the community as "Slippery" Slanker. He was active with the Eagle River Lions Club and Hospice of Havasu, Ariz.

Slanker is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula Slanker, of Georgetown; daughter, Shani Bigelow and husband Charlie of Jarrell, Texas; son, Thomas Slanker, III of Austin, Texas; and son Will Slanker and wife Jutta of Germany; along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
