Heather Neal and Matthew McBride were married Dec. 19, 2010, at Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks. The ceremony took place outside at 20 below 0, with the couple wearing faux fur robes. The couple's friend Jessie Craig of Fairbanks performed the ceremony.
Neal is the daughter of Barry and Elizabeth Neal of Eagle River. She graduated from Chugiak High School in May 2005. She attends University of Alaska Fairbanks, pursuing a civil-engineering degree, and also works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
McBride is the son of John and Kathy McBride of Galt, Calif. He graduated from UAF with a degree in criminal justice in December 2009 and was commissioned as an officer into the Alaska National Guard. He served in the army in Korea for three and a half years and works at Fort Greely as an IT Specialist.
The couple has delayed their honeymoon until next winter. They just bought a house with frozen pipes and will honeymoon when McBride comes back from military school.
