Longtime Wasilla resident, Eleanor Jane Bowles, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at her home in Wasilla.

Bowles was born April 19, 1937 to Roscoe and Martha (Simpson) Suddarth in Fairfield, Ill. She moved to Alaska in 1961. Bowles lived in the Eagle River and was a school bus driver in Chugiak in the early 1970's and 1980's.

She enjoyed family, flowers, baking and word search puzzles. Her children wrote, "Family meant the world to our mother."

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donnie Bowles of Wasilla; sons Jim Bowles and his wife Debbie of Wasilla and Doug Bowles and his wife, Debbie of Yentna; daughters Debbie Williams and her husband Dennis of Wasilla and Dana VanderMartin and her husband Richard of Wasilla; grandchildren Courtney, Stormy, Heather, Jenesys, Mathew and Madi VanderMartin of Wasilla, Heidi Davis and Justin of Anchorage, Jennifer and Joe Brookman of Wasilla, Ashton and Alysen of Wasilla, Elissa Bowles of Wasilla and Christine Fenton of Wayne City, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Nick and Tiffany Williams, Cole and Addie Williams, all of Grayville, Ill., Cyndi and Joe Smith and Remedy of Grayville, Ill., Brad and Denise Helwig, Sierra and Trevor Helwig of Anchorage, Chad Helwig of Anchorage, Mazee, Ivie and Ameillia Bowles of Wasilla, Jagger, Serenity and Holly Fenton of Wayne City, Ill.

Per Bowles' request no services will be held. Her ashes will be spread at Hatcher Pass at a future date.

Funeral arrangements by the Valley Funeral Home & Crematory Wasilla.
