State funding for school meals needs support
I know how hunger adds one more challenge to students trying hard to learn. When a child is hungry, it is hard for the student to focus on learning and give their best effort. Over my years as a schoolteacher, I have seen how hungry children have a hard time focusing on even the best lessons I taught them.
The State Senate has passed a bill for state funding for school meals but a similar bill is stalled in the House Finance Committee waiting for a hearing. Time is running out in the session. If we act now we have an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our children.
