Kimberly Elliott and Tyler Nord
Kimberly Elliott and Tyler Nord were engaged to be married May 29, 2010. The couple drove to Bird Ridge and made the 3,500-foot climb to the top where Tyler dropped to one knee and said, "I'm going to enjoy spending the rest of my life with you, marry me."
Kimi Elliott is the daughter of Bob Elliott and DJ McBride of Eagle River. She was born in Belgium but raised in Chugiak. She graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage and is a certified motorcycle safety instructor.
Tyler Nord is the son of Donna Boje and Terry Nord of Portland. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2007 and decided to try his luck in Alaska.
The couple enjoys hiking, road and mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming and being on the trails with their bear-intimidating dog, Kobi.
Elliott and Nord first met on a tour of the Dena'ina Center around August of 2008. They ended up in a volleyball league together and began hanging out with mutual friends. Later, Nord threw a Halloween party and invited Elliott, who came as a bumblebee. That night, Nord made clear his intentions toward Elliott, doing so with a firm handshake and a question of "Friends?" Despite what Nord thought he wanted, that bumblebee kept buzzing around in his head the whole next week. Shortly after, they started dating.
The couple will wed June 25 at Kincaid Chalet in Anchorage.
