Undeterred by failed Assembly bid, Urquidi plans to run for Congress

Doug Urquidi, who ran unsuccessfully against Assembly member Bill Starr this year, isn't slinking away from politics. Instead Urquidi plans to announce Saturday that he will make a bid for U.S. Congress, according to his newly formed campaign. Urquidi will run as a Democrat, campaign manager Caleb Pritt said. The Eagle River electrician and U.S. Army veteran sought Republican support in his Assembly bid, Pritt noted in a press release.

Urquidi lost to Starr by a fairly wide margin in April's municipal elections – roughly 625 votes to Starr's 3,900. He plans to announce his candidacy Saturday at his Eagle River home.
