Myltersen and Hopper
Chugiak High School seniors Kaylee Myltersen and Grady Hopper were named 2011 Outstanding Choral Students by their fellow choir students and fine arts teachers. The award is based on "achievement" in choral music over a four-year period. The students had a number of achievements through ASAA events and music performances throughout their high school career. Among Miltersen's accomplishments was achieving all-state for three years, two of which she was first chair Alto 1, the lead in the musical, "Grease," seven song solos, voted outstanding soloist at the Alamo Showcase of Music, was a soloist in the China touring choir, twice the "1" rating at state solo and ensemble, and she sang in 42 concerts over three years.
Grady Hopper played bass and sang for the Chugiak High's Swing Choir for four years, he composed and/or arranged three tunes for the choir, sang in 52 concerts over four years and he twice received a "1" at state solo and ensemble.
