A cup of sugar, a battery cover...

Anchorage police cited and released a Chugiak resident on May 5 for theft of motor vehicle parts after discovering him in possession of several items stolen from a neighbor's four-wheeler.

Robert Kling, 63, told officers he thought the Suzuki Quadrunner parked near a shop on Davidson Drive was abandoned, police spokeswoman Anita Shell said. He removed the battery cover and the left-side brake lever, Shell said.

Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the courts.
