Christina Roper and Benjamin Gorlick were engaged to be married Feb. 15, 2011, on Roper's birthday. Before her birthday dinner, Gorlick drove Roper up to Hilltop Ski Area at sunset. Because it was so cold, Gorlick had to assure Roper it wasn't that bad before she would emerge from the warm car. After the couple took in Anchorage, the beautiful mountains and a magnificent sunset, Gorlick asked Roper what would make this her most memorable birthday. With Roper speechless, Gorlick got down on one knee and presented her with an engagement ring. She immediately said yes. The couple then rushed off to dinner to announce their engagement to Roper's parents.
Roper is the daughter of Phil and Carol Roper. She graduated from Chugiak High in 2007 and from the University of Alaska Anchorage in May 2011 with a degree in Journalism and Public Communications. Her hobbies include modeling, writing in her fashion blog (www.christinaroper.blogspot.com), dancing, playing with her dog Suzie and traveling.
Gorlick is the son of Terry and Jacqui Gorlick. He graduated from West High in 2001 and attended UAA for Computer Sciences. He owns and operates Alaska Global Engineered Products. Gorlick's hobbies include playing soccer, Oriental medicine, being a "foodie", and traveling.
The two met through Facebook.
