Gridiron standouts nab 12 trophies

Six players representing Chugiak High and five representing Eagle River earned recognition during an awards ceremony held following the conclusion of the All Alaska Football Camp, held at Colony High last month.

Awards were handed out on a position-by-position basis in both junior (freshmen- and sophmores-to-be) and senior (upperclassmen) categories.

Winning awards for the Mustangs were Isaac Temple (No. 1 Senior quarterback), David Mahew (Most Improved Junior quarterback), Matt Oldenkamp (Most Improved Junior tight end), Justin Benzel (No. 2 Senior running back), Kenny Pegues (No. 1 Junior defensive lineman) and Kody Trombley (No. 2 Senior offensive lineman).

Taking home hardware for the Wolves were Peter Kott (No. 2 Junior quarterback), Oscar Hall (No. 2 Senior defensive lineman), Cameron Fabacher (Most Improved Junior defensive back), Sam Banks (No. 2 Senior linebacker) and Ed Hall, who was named the both the top Junior Division outside linebacker and running back at the annual summer camp, which this year hosted more than 300 participants from across Alaska.
