"Each of the four members represent a different genre, and every song is served up with all that variety," he said. "It works for us."
Perez leads the group on vocals and accordion. An upright bassist, electric guitarist and drummer round out the instrumentation.
Tejas Brothers is scheduled to play at 9 p.m. tonight at the GoldenLight Cantina, 2906 S.W. Sixth Ave.
The Fort Worth-based band formed in 2006.
"I went to an open jam session, and we all were playing on stage at the same time," Perez said. "It was magic. We decided to form a band."
Since then, the band has only had one member change. Drummer Lex Cochran joined the group last year.
The group's self-titled debut album released in 2008.
It spawned three singles: "I Can't Sleep," "Boogie Woogie Mamacita" and "Love Me or Leave Me Alone." It also featured two cover songs.
A second project is in the works. Perez said the upcoming album will include all original tunes.
Perez said concert-goers can expect a show with toe-tapping tunes designed to make them laugh and dance.
"We try to keep the audience entertained throughout the whole night," Perez said.
"For us, the audience is really the fifth member of the band, and we want to include them so we all have a really good time," he said.
