Arthur "Dale" McBride

Sept. 1, 1930-Nov. 25, 2010

Eagle River resident Arthur "Dale" McBride, 80, died Nov. 25, 2010, at his home.

Per his request, no services will be held. His ashes will be scattered at a later date.

Dale was born the youngest of 13 siblings in Forest Grove, Mont., on Sept. 1, 1930. He received his GED in the Army. Serving in Korea, he was inducted in November 1952 and discharged in September 1954.

He became a resident of Alaska in 1961. Dale worked as a carpenter and in the construction business. He loved fishing, shooting, wood crafting, hunting and gun collecting. Dale was a member of the Palmer Moose, Eagle River Lions, Eagle River Elks, VFW Post 9785 and American Legion Post 33. He was a life member of both the Eagle River Lions and VFW 9785 and the National Rifle Association.

His family wrote, "Dale was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed."

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gloria; son and his wife, Michael Kasten and Rose; son and his wife, Shawn and DJ; son, Cory; daughter, Shannon; grandchildren, Michael and Gloria Kasten, and Megan and Ian Davis; great-grandchildren, Michael, Clint, Rosie and Jack; sisters, Lavyrne Stordahl and Micki Loflin; stepgrandchildren, Joseph, Jessica and Kimi; stepgreat-grandchildren, Daniel, Griffen and Alexis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.

Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
